A polarization-/angle-insensitive, bandwidth-optimized, metamaterial absorber in the microwave regime

Abstract
A novel metamaterial absorber with significantly enhanced characteristics in the microwave X-band is presented in this paper. The behavior of the structure is thoroughly investigated under various cases of obliquely incident waves and its operational bandwidth is drastically improved by combining unit cells with properly scaled resonators. The overall performance ofthe proposed design is deemed promising for the fabrication of practical microwave absorbers.
