Disordered and ordered nanocomposites composed of polymers and gold nanoparticles are
prepared, with characteristic sizes between 10 and 100 nm. Their optical properties are studied by
spectroscopic ellipsometry and related to their detailed structural description obtained by transmission
electron microscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering. This study allows discussing the use of
self-assembly for fabrication of new optical materials.
