Abstract

In this paper we introduce the magnetic resonant metalens : a planar array of closely spaced split ring resonators (SRR). The metalens effect relies on a strong magnetic coupling between the SRRs and the Purcell effect. We show that this lens can convert at once the magnetic near field of an object to diffraction limited waves which can be collected efficiently in the far field. We present the first demonstration of parallel near field imaging of a ยต-shaped magnetic object from the far field, achieving a resolution of 1/15th of a wavelength.
