Call for Papers
The 17th International Conference on Metamaterials, Photonic Crystals and Plasmonics takes place at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre, Ontario, Canada, 13–16 July 2027. META invites original contributions addressing fundamental advances, emerging concepts, devices and applications across metamaterials, photonics, plasmonics and structured light–matter interactions.
Call for Papers opens Autumn 2026 · Submission deadline 12 February 2027
The scientific scope
Contributions are submitted to one of four tracks. They span the six thematic frontiers of the scientific programme, and determine how submissions are routed for review.
Fundamental concepts and emerging approaches for controlling electromagnetic and other wave phenomena through engineered materials and interfaces.
Nanoscale control of optical fields and their interaction with matter, from fundamental mechanisms to spectroscopy, sensing and energy conversion.
Periodic, structured and quantum photonic systems for controlling propagation, emission, information and fundamental states of light.
Methods and technologies enabling the discovery, realization and translation of new metamaterial and photonic concepts.
What to submit
Submit a two-page extended abstract using the official META 2027 template. It should contain:
Format: PDF · Maximum length: 2 pages
Invited speakers submit a summary of at least one page using the same template, through the same portal and by the same deadline.
An invitation does not replace submission: every presentation in the programme has a corresponding contribution in the proceedings.
Review criteria
Submissions should make the scientific contribution readily identifiable. Reviewers consider:
Are the methods, analysis and conclusions scientifically sound?
Does the contribution present a new result, concept, method or significant advance?
Is the work relevant to the scope of META and of potential interest to the community?
Are the motivation, principal results and conclusions presented clearly enough for meaningful technical review?
All contributed submissions are reviewed by members of the META Technical Programme Committee and invited experts.
Authors may indicate a preference for an oral or poster presentation. The final format is determined by the Committee according to scientific evaluation and programme constraints. Acceptance is based on the scientific content of the submitted paper.
Submitted work must be original. Contributions are screened for plagiarism and duplicate submission.
Accepted contributions presented at META 2027 are published in the META Conference Proceedings (ISSN 2429-1390), indexed in Scopus.
The accepted two-page paper constitutes the proceedings contribution, unless authors upload an optional extended paper by the final-paper deadline.
Presentation formats
Contributed oral presentation within a technical session. Duration to be announced.
Poster presentation and discussion. Format to be announced.
Invited presentation within the main programme, a symposium or a special session.
Special Sessions & Symposia
Researchers are invited to propose Special Sessions and Symposia addressing focused or rapidly developing areas within the scope of META 2027. Proposals should identify the scientific theme, the organisers and prospective contributors.
