How to get there

META 2019 will take place at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) Congress Center located in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture building (Pavilhão de Civil). IST (the largest science and technology school in Portugal) is located at a convenient distance from hotels, restaurants and diverse cultural sites. Being close to the Lisbon city centre, IST is easily reached by metro (metro station "Alameda" - Red and Green lines; metro sation "Saldanha" - Red and Yellow lines), bus, taxi or car from any location in town, including the airport (metro station "Aeroporto"- Red line), which is only a 10 minute taxi ride.

About Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital and the largest city of Portugal, being the 11th-most populous urban area in the European Union. It is continental Europe's westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. Lisbon lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the River Tagus. Fittingly for a city that’s reinventing itself as well as celebrating its past, Lisbon was the Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017. Despite the hills, Lisbon’s an easy city to explore on foot, and summer is the best time to do so.
