META 2021 goes online - Don’t miss a moment!

Zoom will be used to livestream all sessions of the conference along with the event management software Whova. Each session will have an individual link and these will be listed in Whova, you can watch the presentations in Whova itself.

Full details on Whova will be emailed to registered speakers and attendees prior to the event. If you have never used Zoom, instructions on creating an account and basic features are listed here.

The virtual conference program is similar to any in-person conference. Presentations are assembled into sessions according to a theme and they will be assigned a virtual room. The technical program has been put together considering the authors respective time zones. A chairperson will co-ordinate each session including facilitating Q&A. Some of the sessions will run in parallel rooms and delegates can choose the session they wish to attend.

All speakers have the possibility to give their talk live in the allotted time specified in the technical program. At the time of the presentation, the session chairperson will allow the speaker to share his/her computer screen with the audience (the pre-recording will be used as a backup in case of a no-show or technical difficulty). Speakers also have the option to have their pre-recorded presentation played during the live session.

However, all authors, no matter what format they select (live or on-demand) are required to submit a link to their pre-recorded presentation by the deadline of July 7 (extended).

I you are not able to provide such a link  for your recording for legal reasons (or other reasons) please contact us at

For both live or on-demand presentations, a 5-minute live Question and Answer (Q&A) session will follow each presentation. The session chairperson will read questions submitted by participants. At least one of the paper’s authors must be online to answer questions after the talk.
